Let's have a celebration!

A wedding! A birthday party! A corporate party! Any kind of celebration..... it needs lighting.
I really get a chance to hang cool lighting in cool places, unusual places and different ways. I spend a lot of time checking out what my peers around the world are doing with lighting. It pushes my creativity. Recently at the Dallas Arboretum Bridal Stroll and Corporate Stroll and the Orion Ballroom that is what I did. I really love experimenting with new lights, positions, and just creating a look that will wow you! Enjoy!

Veronica and Jason

There are many things that I love about the lighting business, however, the smiles on the faces of the bride, groom and their guests are priceless. Lighting sets the tone and enhances everything in the room. Weddings are my favorite.

Veronica and Jason selected two wonderful venues. The ceremony was held at South Side on Lamar (the old Sears building Dallas, Texas) in the Janette Kennedy Gallery. This historic building has such character and personality. The gallery which has amazing columns and huge windows which look out to the Artist Quarter. These things add to the beauty of this space. The windows were draped in white, which allowed us to really focus on the bridal party and spotlight the bride and groom with something special... we hung a chandelier with flowers, then we added up lighting and down lighting. It was handsome (that's a man term!)

The Orion Ballroom was the location for the reception. The spectacular view of Dallas and the very chic modern decor of this space was the perfect backdrop for Veronica's favorite color purple and the monogram from their wedding. So take a look and enjoy!

p.s. We are building a collection of speciality lighting and will be showing you photos soon.

Lighting and weddings during daylight savings time!

Daylight savings time is wonderful for weddings. The longer days mean more natural light for a venue with lots of windows. Sometimes closing the curtains helps, however, if the venue has a view that is not a option. I always visit the venue(s) and then visit with my client to make suggestions for that particular space.

Things to remember about lighting and daylight savings time.
1. Lighting sets the mood. Think about the mood or moods you want for your ceremony and reception.
2. When the venue has windows, lighting is going to show best as the sun goes down.
3. Consider the time of your ceremony and reception when you have selected to have lighting.
4. When selecting a venue consider the interior and the colors you have selected.

This wedding was on the first day of daylight savings time. You can see the difference in the outside lighting at 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

This photo was taken at 8:30 pm. The sun was almost down.

The photographs below were taken at 6:00 p.m. You can see hints of sun through the shades.

The Orion Ballroom Open House

This Oak Cliff venue has good bones. Chef Doug Brown has turned this space into a lighting dream. The beautiful modern look makes it easy to light and the white walls soak up any color.
With the drapes open or closed, lighting enhances its beauty. The different areas can be lit to reflex different moods. This is a wonderful venue to transform from wonderful to stunning!

Hilton Bella Harbor

Hilton Bella Harbor
Rockwall, Texas

The Hilton Bella Harbor was the venue for the Lakeside Bridal Show in Rockwall, Texas. This is a beautiful venue. With Lake Ray Hubbard as its location it is easy to see why this is not an ordinary hotel venue. It was my first bridal show. I did not know what to expect, however, it was a great experience. The monogram, chandelier and lighting received rave reviews. Thanks to everyone who came by.
